There was a problem loading your book clubs. They all breathe heavy with the air of those workshops. Fante wrote this in his very late years, dictating it to his wife because he could not see anymore... and I think he recollected all his past adventure through the lens of melancholy and overestimation of youth days! However, the most impressive thing we can say about the final novel of the Bandini saga is that a blind John Fante wrote it on his deathbed by dictating every line to his wife Joyce who dutifully wrote it down. Some fourteen years since I stumbled across Fante's 'Ask the Dust' as an eighteen-year-old, Arturo Bandini remains my favourite literary creation, and 'Dreams from Bunker Hill' remains one of my favourite novels. Somewhere in the story a used Plymouth is purchased for $300.00 that it seems is a bit high for the times. This is the second book by Fante I've read and while it may be too early to say, it's become my favorite thus far, and by extension one of my new favorite books.
